It was another great day at Harbour Town Golf Links for “moving day” at the 2022 RBC Heritage presented by Boeing on Saturday.
I woke up early to get down there and follow Peter Malnati and Anirban Lahiri, and after that, I just soaked in this “80% capacity” in the Heritage Lawn.
Malnati and Lahiri both started the day at even par and Peter got off to a hot start on the front 9 with birdies on Nos. 2, 8, and No. 9 and added three more on Nos. 11, 12, and No. 18. With no bogies today he carded a 65, 6-under for the day, and is sitting five strokes back from the lead heading into Sunday.
Lahiri just couldn't find his putter today, losing more than half a stroke on the field putting. Everything else seemed good from my point of view. He finished with a 69, 2-under par for the day, and is nine strokes back on Harold Varner III in the lead at 11-under.
After they finished up their round I headed over to the Heritage Lawn to experience the plaid party down there. It seemed like you weren't even at a golf tournament in that area. But they had big screens showing all the action out on the course.
Once again we didn't see the severe rains they were calling for but it did sprinkle a bit. It was humid all day long, which was a factor making everything stickier out there.
One more day left, and it should be a good one with a bunch of big names near the lead and the weather forecast improving. Hope to see y’all out there!
